Professor Sunny Aiyuk is the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Services at the Botswana Open University, also serving as substantive Dean of the School of Science and Technology. He is an experienced educator and administrator in the Tertiary Education realm, with over 15 years in university leadership.

Prof. Aiyuk holds a PhD in Environmental Technology from the Ghent University, Belgium, a combined M.Sc. in Water Resources Engineering from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium, a combined Master in Advanced Management from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and Solvay Business School, Belgium (specialising in Project Management), and a Postgraduate Diploma in Management. He also holds a M.Sc. in Applied Sedimentology and Petroleum Geology from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Nigeria, and a B.Sc. in Geology from the University of Yaounde, Cameroon. Again, Prof. Aiyuk holds a professional Certificate in Prevention and Management of Communicable Diseases from the African Medical Research Foundation (AMREF), Kenya, a Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health from the National Institute of Occupational Health (NIOH) in South Africa, and a Certificate for Distance Education Practitioners from the Botswana Open University. He holds various Certificates in Management and Leadership.

Prof. Aiyuk has previously held roles of Head of Department, Deputy Dean and Dean in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the National University of Lesotho. He has served as Senior Environmental Specialist and Project Environmental Engineer for various international projects, including for the European Space Agency (ESA). He is a global scholar and prolific researcher, and has taught and published widely in the fields of Environmental Health, Public Health and Water Resources, addressing issues of Water and
Wastewater Engineering, Waste Management, Environmental Ecotoxicology, Communicable Diseases, Renewable Energy, Climate Change and Project Management. He is a professional mentor and has supervised numerous Undergraduate and Postgraduate Dissertations and Theses. He has also plentifully
served as External Research Examiner and Journal Reviewer. Prof. Aiyuk has worn and led numerous International Awards and Research Grants.

As Prof. Aiyuk takes on his new assignment within the university leadership, he brings a wealth of experience in academic and staff leadership and management, student affairs and welfare, contributing thus to an improved quality of education at Botswana Open University and supporting its core mission
